Connecting with Seasonal Plants
I was amazed to learn recently that nettle, as well as garlic scapes are both natural antihistamines– talk about natural wisdom! Chestnut School of Herbs recently shared a post about preparing medicinal vinegar in Spring which I will be brewing as nettles, dandelions, violet and chickweed appear where we live. Whatever season you’re in don’t forget about the beautiful range of family-friendly recipes in Whole Family Herbs.
Recycling: the good, the bad and the ugly. ♻️
We are just finishing up our month on “Striving for Sustainability” in the Collective and what an informative month it has been! One big AHA for me lately has been that as much as recycling is better than trashing plastic, it really isn’t enough. Reducing the amount of plastic we are bringing into our homes is a much more sustainable solution. One way I have cut down on our plastic is by switching to shampoo and conditioner bars. So far I am loving my bars from Unwrapped Life who also shared an informative article recently called, Three Reasons Why Recycling Isn’t Enough.
Often on Sundays I prep snacks and meals for the week ahead, as well as do a great big load of laundry. When my children are playing nicely in these moments, I make a cup of tea, put my earphones in and listen to On Being while cutting, chopping and folding. This has become a self-care ritual I have grown fond of and recently I was deeply moved by Krista’s interview “The Intelligence in All Kinds of Life” with Robin Wall Kimmerer, author of Braiding Sweetgrass.
Thank you so much for being a meaningful part of this community of parents and carers.
I love your feedback so please do share it with our community and make sure to add #wholefamilysundays so I can find it.
Wishing you and yours a lovely week.
