Valentine’s Saltdough

Ingredients

plain uncoloured saltdough:

  • 1 cup white flour
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 tablespoon cream of tartar

plus:

  • 1 beetroot, chopped into small chunks
  • dried rosebuds
  • cinnamon

Let’s Begin

  1. Make a batch of plain salt dough if you don’t have one already
  2. Cover the beetroot with water in a large pot and boil for 15 minutes
  3. Remove the beetroot and reduce (by continuously boiling) the pink beetroot water until there are only a few tablespoons left
  4. Put a tablespoon or two onto the salt dough and knead until the dough turns pink
  5. Add cinnamon and rosebuds and knead again
